Is Chiropractic Safe for Kids?
There is a quote that we like at Restore Chiropractic. “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.” It is critical to have your child checked for misalignments and nerve system interference now while he or she is still growing and developing. Often times, children DON’T need to be adjusted, but it is crucial to their development to at least have periodic check-ups so that they can develop and thrive as they were intended. You don’t want your child to end up like you with health challenges so early in life, do you? Be proactive instead of reactive.
Once I see a Chiropractor, do I have to go forever?
With that stated, however, this is a typical scenario: A patient faces a health crisis and shows up in our practice. We’re always delighted to help, but often as soon as the client feels better, they discontinue their regular care.
That’s how our society tends to view health care: attend to health matters only after losing your health. The entire process is similar to riding a roller coaster. After using lots of energy, the roller coaster is pulled up a steep incline. That’s like the frequent visits a new patient experiences when beginning care. Up on top the views are great, but when the power pulling the coaster up is removed, there’s only one way to go!
Like patients who feel better and then discontinue their care, they coast. Which is what a roller coaster is: a scary ride that while fast, is entirely based on coasting downhill. Gravity wins every time.
Much of the healing and retraining of muscles and ligaments necessary for more lasting spinal changes happen after the relief of obvious symptoms. That’s why discontinuing care too soon invites a relapse. Coasting right back to the bottom is fun on a roller coaster, but not much fun when it applies to your health!
Healing takes your body time…it is never a quick fix and it cannot be found in a pill. Take care of your body, with regular exercise, good nutrition and a sound nervous system, and everything you need to heal and be healthy is within you. Each patient’s care plan is different and tailored specifically to an individual’s need to truly correct the cause of the problem.
Our goal, once you are stabilized and corrected, is to change from a reactive model to a proactive model. We suggest periodic check-ups just like your regular dental exams to make sure that you catch a problem before it starts to control you.
