Frequently Asked questions

Do you take insurance?

We work with the insurance benefits that you have available, including Health Savings Accounts and Flex Spending Accounts. While each policy is different, most companies do offer some type of benefit. At Restore Chiropractic, we will process your insurance benefits for you and work with you on a financial plan that makes sense for your budget for any costs not covered. We strive to not let the financial cost of care impact your ability to receive the care that you need. Our goal is to help you to correct the cause of your pain and symptoms so that you can become less dependent on the current model of sickness care associated with insurance and move you towards a proactive state of health.

If you have any further questions regarding insurance policies, do not hesitate to call our Wayne chiropractic office.

Is Chiropractic safe?

It seems that there is always much controversy surrounding the safety of Chiropractic care. Rest assured that Chiropractic is very safe for patients of all ages. Please take the time to look at the facts and decide for yourself:

  • The risk of a stroke from a chiropractic adjustment is 1 in 1 MILLION (Haldeman DC, MD, PHD, Top Clin Chiro. 1995; 2) You are more likely to be struck by lightning!! Do not allow yourself to be fooled.
  • “We found no evidence of excess risk of VBA stroke associated chiropractic care compared to primary care.” (Cassidy JD, Boyle E, Côté P, et al., Risk of Vertebrobasilar Stroke and Chiropractic Care, Results of a Population-Based Case-Control and Case-Crossover Study, SPINE, Volume 33, Number 4S, pp S176–S183).
As compared to medicine:

  • The most comprehensive review of “adverse events” (also referred to as “Iatrogenic Injury”) caused by modern medicine is the article Death by Medicine, written by Gary Null, Ph.D.; Carolyn Dean MD, ND; Martin Feldman, MD; Debora Rasio, MD; and Dorothy Smith, PhD.This fully referenced report reveals that:
    • 2.2 million people experience in-hospital, adverse reactions to prescribed drugs per year.
    • 20 million unnecessary antibiotics are prescribed annually for viral infections
    • 7.5 million unnecessary medical and surgical procedures are performed annually, and
    • 8.9 million people are exposed to unnecessary hospitalization every year!
    • The most stunning statistic, however, is that the total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year! That is a mind-boggling 2147 people killed daily! That’s 7 jumbo jet plane crashes, each and every day. That’s a 9-11 incident occurring every other day.
  • “The Risk of death from Anesthesia is 1 in 1000.” (Chapman-Smith, The Chiro Report, May 1994)
  • ” Tylenol kills more people than COCAINE! (Jan.12, 1998 Forbes Magazine, “J&J’s Dirty Little Secret”)

Is Chiropractic Safe for Kids?

Here is the research: “The Risk of a neurological complication from a chiropractic adjustment for children is 1 in 25O MILLION” (J of Vert. Subluxation Research, Jun 1998). Have you recently looked at the odds of winning the lottery?

There is a quote that we like at Restore Chiropractic. “As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.” It is critical to have your child checked for misalignments and nerve system interference now while he or she is still growing and developing. Often times, children DON’T need to be adjusted, but it is crucial to their development to at least have periodic check-ups so that they can develop and thrive as they were intended. You don’t want your child to end up like you with health challenges so early in life, do you? Be proactive instead of reactive.

Once I see a Chiropractor, do I have to go forever?

The short answer is no, you do not. Our goal at Restore Chiropractic is to work with you to correct the cause of your pain and restore your health so that you can return to the life that you want to live.

With that stated, however, this is a typical scenario: A patient faces a health crisis and shows up in our practice. We’re always delighted to help, but often as soon as the client feels better, they discontinue their regular care.

That’s how our society tends to view health care: attend to health matters only after losing your health. The entire process is similar to riding a roller coaster. After using lots of energy, the roller coaster is pulled up a steep incline. That’s like the frequent visits a new patient experiences when beginning care. Up on top the views are great, but when the power pulling the coaster up is removed, there’s only one way to go!

Like patients who feel better and then discontinue their care, they coast. Which is what a roller coaster is: a scary ride that while fast, is entirely based on coasting downhill. Gravity wins every time.

Much of the healing and retraining of muscles and ligaments necessary for more lasting spinal changes happen after the relief of obvious symptoms. That’s why discontinuing care too soon invites a relapse. Coasting right back to the bottom is fun on a roller coaster, but not much fun when it applies to your health!

Healing takes your body time…it is never a quick fix and it cannot be found in a pill. Take care of your body, with regular exercise, good nutrition and a sound nervous system, and everything you need to heal and be healthy is within you. Each patient’s care plan is different and tailored specifically to an individual’s need to truly correct the cause of the problem.

Our goal, once you are stabilized and corrected, is to change from a reactive model to a proactive model. We suggest periodic check-ups just like your regular dental exams to make sure that you catch a problem before it starts to control you.

Frequently Asked Question here

Yes. Chiropractic is really about restoring optimal function to the nervous system. The foundation of your health really comes down to how the nervous system functions. Think of the nervous system as your master control system. It controls every system, organ, cell, tissue, and muscle in your body. Misalignments in the spine create interference in the nervous system which can create chaos in our body. This interference causes the brain and the body to not communicate as well as they should and this is where dysfunction begins. By restoring this communication of the brain and the body through realignment, your body will be able to return to optimal function. This is why our patients have responded well with conditions like migraines and other headaches, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, allergies, asthma, sinus conditions, neck pain, sciatica and back pain too!

What if I feel fine?

It is important to understand that being free of symptoms does not mean that you are healthy. Symptoms are the effect of the problem and not the problem itself. Symptoms typically surface well after dysfunction has begun. Maintaining a healthy functioning nervous system through proper alignment ensures that your body will be functioning optimally even without the warning signs of symptoms. Take control of your health and don’t wait for symptoms to appear before taking action.

Does It Hurt?

The adjustment is very quick and precise. There is no rotation. Our patients have described the adjustment as a little uncomfortable, but NOT painful. And, it only lasts a second! Dr. Gray will also demonstrate and explain every procedure to you so that you have a thorough understanding of the adjustment.
